What happens next?
The DER Design program encompasses the full spectrum of design disciplines: textile design, fashion design, graphic and digital design, spatial and environmental design, object design, product design, sound and interaction design, with a strong focus on research through speculative design. This unique approach enables students to pursue a wide range of career paths: design studios, R&D, research, and teaching.
Design Research Track
The Master’s in Design Research primarily prepares students for a Ph.D. in design (through laboratory internships, training in academic and design research skills, writing a scientific article, and preparing a design exhibition). Designed as preparation for a Ph.D., the program aims to develop academic skills as well as research capabilities through design projects. These objectives are reflected in two main requirements for the degree: the writing of a scientific article and the organization of a group exhibition in the second year. This exhibition provides each student with a dedicated space to present their individual research project.
It enables students to acquire key skills in research and critical theory, combined with traditional craft practices and new technologies. It prepares students for a variety of career paths: a Ph.D., a year abroad, teaching, and professional opportunities in private-sector R&D.

Design Teaching Track
The M2FESup master’s program prepares students for the Design and Applied Arts certification exam, enabling them to teach at applied arts schools under the supervision of the French Ministry of National Education (technological high schools). The Design and Applied Arts agrégation (M2FESup program) and the CAPET qualification allow graduates to teach at the secondary or higher education levels (DNMADE, DSAA) upon passing the national competitive exams.
